<Three>sorry...20:11
<philollar>I first became a writer when I was a teenager. I was (and still am ) an actor, but I realized that an actor just says someone else's words.  I wanted to say my own words, or have other actors say my words.20:11

* Jehoshaphat (Mibbit@tl-57842A.hsd1.mn.comcast.net) has joined #aio20:12
<Sam>What is your favorite memory of recording in the studio?20:12
<Woodster>Do you happen to know when the 57 download comes out?20:14
<philollar>Back when I was still with AIO, I wanted to do a spin off of the series for older listeners.  That never panned out.  But I still had the idea in the back of my brain. And though it has changed a lot since then, it is still geared toward older listeners -- and ther families,  too, of course!20:14
<Caitie>Tag, Sam20:14
<philollar>Iliad House is not affiliated with either AIO or FOF, though.  We are completely independent.  Which is why we need everyone;s help!20:15
<Caitie>Which of your episodes do you like best?20:15
<philollar>I don't know when Album 57 comes out.  Sorry.20:15
<Woodster>Oooh, good question, Caitie20:15
<Sam>I'm really looking forward to it. =)20:16
<philollar>I have many, many favorite memories of recording in the studio.  One of my favorites was recording Alan Young as Jack in the episode "A Question about Tasha."  That was a sweet moment and a sweet scene.20:16
<TinyOwl_CC>What inspired you to be a writer, When you were a teenager? 20:17
<Woodster>What would happen to Iliad House if you didn't make the Kickstarter goal?20:17
<philollar>It is very difficult for me to come up with a single favorite episode, ot even a group of faves.  I like them all -- even the not so good ones. ;-)20:17
* Woodster eats a brownie20:18
* Caitie looks at Woodster's brownie in disdain20:18
<Woodster>What?20:19
<Caitie>Yuck >=)20:19
<Woodster>You don't like brownies?20:19
<Catspaw>Do you find it hard to listen to the episodes that you're in? Or is it easier than for Paul McCusker, since you often were voicing more loveable characters?  ;)20:19
<Caitie>no20:19
<Woodster>=[20:19
<TinyOwl_CC>How can you say that about Brownies? :o20:19
<philollar>I always likes writing, even before I was a teenager.  I enjoyed the process of putting words on paper. There was a mystery about it -- these little squiggly black lines I make can be looked at by other people, and they can know exactly what I was thinking  at that moment!  My thoughts are in someone else's head!  That is amazing!20:19
* Woodster hopes someday Caitie's tastbuds will realize the wonderfulness of brownies20:20
<Caitie>Who is your favorite AIO character?20:20
<philollar>If we don;t make our Kickstarter goal, we'll have to figure out a way to raise the money in some other way.  With Kickstarter, it's all or nothing!  So please PLEASE keep spreading the word and urge your friends to support us!  20:21
<Sam>My thoughts in someone else's head. That wouldn't be good. ;)20:21
<Woodster>*tastebuds20:21
<Three>Is Prof. Portalis intended to be a byronic character?20:21
<Gracy>I'm excited to see where Iliad house goes and I hope that I can donate!20:21
* Woodster looks the word "byronic" up20:21
<Sam>I'm going to post the project on my blog so viewers can know about and possibly donate to it. =)20:22
* Caitie does too20:22
<philollar>I don't mind listening to the episodes I'm in, depending on the episode.  But then, I'm also a voice actor, and Paul McCusker isn't.  (Although he did do a great job as Glossman!)20:22
<Eugene_2>Who is the most obscure aio character you can think of?20:23
<Woodster>Byronic must not be a real word =[20:23
<Caitie>It is20:23
<Caitie>!20:23
<Tim>Woodster: I'd try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byronic_hero20:24
<Sam>Adjective Characteristic of Lord Byron or his poetry. (of a man) Alluringly dark, mysterious, or moody.20:24
<Woodster>Well, it ain't in my dictionary20:24
<Sam>It is indeed a word.20:24
<Woodster>I stand corrected20:24
<Catspaw>Tim beat me to the link!  This is shocking to everybody, I know.  ;)20:24
<Caitie>Haha Woody ;)20:24
<Caitie>:)20:24
<philollar>It is hard for me to pin down a favorite character, for the same reason as it is hard for me to pin down a favorite episode.  Of course I like Whit very much, and Connie and Eugene.  Bernard is a big favorite, as is the Rathbone Family.  But I like them all -- well, almost all.20:24
<Sam>What is a character you dislike? Why?20:25

<philollar>I don't want to say which characters I dislike. That wouldn't be kind or productive.20:27
<Sam>Understandable.20:27
<philollar>The best advice I have for aspiring writers is ... it is very important, so pay attention ... are you ready?20:28
<Woodster>Yes20:28
<Sam>Indeed20:28
<Three>The interactive narrator in Jungle Jam and Friends the Radio Show is a particularly ingenious narrative method. Do you remember a particular reason for choosing that method over other possible narrative options?20:28

<Woodster>Caitie is eager for Chapter 18 of my book, I think ;)20:30

<Caitie>go find an isolated room NOW!! jk ;)20:32
<philollar>Three, I'm glad you asked that about the Narrator.  It is a wonderful and useful tool for advancing plot and exposition when needed, and if the narration can be written in an engaging and witty way, it's even better.  ILIAD HOSUE uses a Narrator.20:32

<Gracy>How many familier AIO actors are participating in Iliad House?20:33
<philollar>Caitie, I get fatigued when writing, just like everyione does.  It can be mentally exhausting.  And everyone should take breaks, which I certainly do. But I love it.  It is what I am, and what I do!20:33
<Shtakji_mobile>What is your favourite topic to write about? (Comedy, drama..?)20:34
<Woodster>In contrast to thw writing questions, what do you like to read?20:35
<philollar>Doll, when I'm not working and writing, I like to read.  Which is also something that every aspiring writer must do. Read, read, read!  I also like watching films and well done TV shows.  20:35
<philollar>Gracy, there will be a few AIO actors in Iliad House, but they'll be doing roles that are different from their AIO ones.20:36
<Woodster>Any specific actors you care to tell us about?20:36
<Eugene_2>Do you have a certain time when you write or do you write whenever you get inspiration?20:36
<Caitie>How many episodes do you plan on making?20:37
<philollar>Katie Leigh and  Will Ryan are two.  Also Aria Curzon, perhaps.  And Chris Anthony.20:37

<TinyOwl_CC>Do you think you will write anymore books? 20:38
<Catspaw>Yay!20:38
<Woodster>Would you mind reading and reviewing my book(What's written of it so far)20:39
<Doll>What are some books/authors that you really enjoy?20:39
<philollar>Eugene_2, I like to write every morning.  And evening.  And at night.  I like to write when I'm inspired, and I make myself write especially when I don't feel like it. 20:39
<Three>The drawing of Iliad House seems to be in a form of Gothic Revival, much like some drawings of Whit's End. Is the architectural similarity intentional or just a by-product of Gothic Revival?20:39
<Anemone> 20:39
<Gracy>Since you like well written TV shows, are you a fan of BBC's Downton Abbey or Sherlock?20:39
<philollar>Caitie, we plan on making as many episodes as we can!20:40
<Caitie>cool :D20:40
<philollar>Tiny Owl, I do plan on writing more books.  As a matter of fact, I have a new book coming out in October.  It is a children's book called "Patches and the Feelings Tree."  20:40
<KF>What is your opinion on the quality of "Christian" fiction? Does it detract from the quality of the story?20:41
<philollar>Woodster, I'd be happy to read and review your book.  It may take me a little while, though.  I'm a little busy right now. :-)20:41
<Caitie>Are you going to make any more PC games?20:42

<philollar>KF, I'm not sure what you mean by "Christian" fiction. Can you explain it a bit more?20:45
<Woodster>It means I sent you a PM =P20:45
<Three>Is The Butler a genderless character?20:45
<philollar>Is PM a private message?  And if so, where might I see it?20:46
<Woodster>Are you in mibbit?20:47
<Gracy>At the top of your page, where the tabs of #aio is, it should be right next to it with Woodster's name on it 20:47
<philollar>The Butler is genderless, though it will probably have a metallic-ly masculine voice.20:47
<Woodster>What Gracy said20:48
<philollar>Got it.20:48
<KF>I guess it just seems like most books or movies (Or audio dramas) I have experienced have focused to heavily on the Christian aspect of the plot and have forgone character development. Thus making it a much less enjoyable experience.20:48
<Sam>Do you know of any more Dale appearances in Odyssey soon?20:48
<KF>*too20:49
<philollar>KF, well, that is a problem with a lot of "advocacy" books and films, etc., not just "Christian" ones.  I have always adhered to what C.S> Lewis said, "We don't need more Christian books.  We need more books written by Christians about everything."20:50
<Caitie>I have to go20:51
<Caitie>Bye20:51
* Caitie has quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)20:51
<Woodster>I must away soon as well20:51
<philollar>Christianity is, among other things, a world view, and we believe it is the best world view there is. Every author writes from his/her world view. Christians should focus on being the best artists they can be,a nd let their world view spring naturally from their art. 20:52
<philollar>Bye, Caitie!20:52
<Woodster>Did the link work right, Phil?20:52
<Anemone>I forgot I still had this open...20:53

<Eugene_2>Greetings and salutation21:21
<philollar>Hi, Whitty!21:21
<KF>Do you have any projects at the moment besides Iliad House?21:21
<Eugene_2>*salutations21:21
<Sparrow>Okay, soooo...I have a question that I'm almost positive has been asked, but...what kind of topics do you plan to cover in Iliad House?21:22
<Catspaw>I'm not sure how much time you had allotted for this tonight, but please let us know when you need the new questions to end so this can be wrapped up.  You're welcome to stay all night if you want, of course, but I'm sure you have a lot of other commitments as well!21:22
<philollar>KF - As I said, I have a children's book coming out in October.  I also am working on a podcast with Will Ryan and Katie Leigh called Fort Blanket Revue that is a combination of conversation and comedy.21:23

<daniel_>hi guys!21:24
<Eugene_2>Hi 21:25
<philollar>Sparrow, we are planning on dealing with subjects that many shows targeted at Christian young people and their families haven't historicallyliked to deal with -- time travel, fantasy, different dimensions, supernatural battles. 21:25
<Shtakji>Hey Daniel!21:25
* Dan_in_Trank_Tank goes to pack for camp21:25
* Dan_in_Trank_Mobile (Dan@DBD57D17.56593776.21712308.IP) has joined #aio21:25

* Paz (Mibbit@tl-B63AD1FD.dhcp.embarqhsd.net) has joined #aio21:26

<Whitty>@philollar, is Illiad House a project you've had in mind for a while, or is it something that came to you more recently?21:27
<philollar>I always wanted to do a spin off of AIO for older listeners.  That never panned out, but I kept the idea in the back of my brain. That idea was Iliad House.  It has changed a great deal since those days -- it no longer has anything to do with AIO or FOF, it is not affiliated with wither in any way. 21:30
<Petrichor>Will any actors from AIO be joining the Iliad House cast?21:30
* Dan_in_Trank_Mobile has quit (Ping timeout)21:30
<philollar>Some of them, yes!  Katie Leigh, and Will Ryan and Chris Anthony, and perhaps Aria Curzon.21:30
* Dan_in_Trank_Mobile (Dan@DBD57D17.56593776.21712308.IP) has joined #aio21:30
<philollar>But they will be playing roles very unlike those on AIO.21:31
<KF>If I donated $1.2 Million would you be willing to change the name of the show to "Onions are Evil?"21:31
<Three>*facepalm*21:32
<Sam>Heh.21:32
<Gracy>KF recently won the powerball ;) 21:32
<Sparrow>The depth and hidden meaning in such a title astounds me.21:32
<philollar>KF, give me the money, and find out! :-)21:32
<KF>I'll have to raise it... It's a very good cause though21:33
<philollar>:-)21:34
<Three>Is Fort Verity fur trade era?21:34
<Sam>KF, just buy some many thousands of monopoly games. Boom. 1.2 million. It might not be US currency, but hey, if the wallet fits. *Cough*21:34
<Eugene_2>And welcome to Onions Are Evil.21:34
<Catspaw>The title is something that I believe very strongly.  I like this idea!21:35
<Eugene_2>Why did you name it Iliad house21:35
<philollar>Fort Verity was was established earlier than the fur trade era.21:35
<Eugene_2>?21:35
<Three>Um, question mark? 21:36
<Sam>Heh. Onions are Evil is going to be the title sooner than we think..21:36

<Dan_in_Trank_Tank>what question, Eugene_2?21:41
<philollar>Petrichor, stylistically, I would compare it to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.21:41

<Eugene_2>*the21:42
<philollar>Eugene, I like epic Greek poems. :-)21:42
<Eugene_2>Yay21:42
<Sparrow>(which brings in a side-question: is Buffy the Vampire Slayer something you would recommend teens watch? I loved Firefly, but have been unsure about Buffy.)21:43
<philollar>Whitty, Iliad House is it's own series, independent of AIO or any other series.  It is not a spin off from AIO.21:43
<philollar>It is a separate show.21:43

<philollar>Part of th =e inspiration for Iliad House came from the idea that teens have all of these shows out there in which they face the choices that all teens have faced throughout time -- temptations and dilemmas, etc. Our characters will also face those same temptations, etc., but will do so from the Christian world view.21:50
<philollar>Whitty - no spoliers.  I'll just say ... :-)21:50
